Isolators
Isolators are a vibration treatment. These are important to prevent rattles from adding their own noise and to keep vibration from getting into the structure and later becoming a noise. Your engine mounts are part of an isolation system.
Isolators on an aircraft usually are used between doors and the fuselage, floor panels and the frames, sliding compartments, loose fitting consoles or anywhere that a rattle could occur. We strongly recommend isolating the floors any time that is an option (check on your aircraft design to see if this is allowable).
We have a foam mounting tape that is specifically designed to isolate vibration. In addition we have the closed cell damping foams that are excellent isolators (check in your kit, you may be able to use scrap foam for isolation mounts with no additional cost) plus the felt can be used for isolation mounts.
Our materials all pass FAR 25.853(A) - 12 second vertical burn.
If you'd like samples of these materials along with some more information about making your own kit, you may order one of our catalogs.
